Under the supervision of the Taipei City Office of Commerce (TCOOC), this year’s Tianmu Halloween Festival’s parade and carnival event will take place at the Tianmu Sports Park on October 31. The 2-day annual festivity has attracted 240,000 visitors in 2019.

The Halloween parade this year, which is slated for October 30, has expanded its scope to include the neighborhood around SOGO department store in Tianmu. Individuals who visit the Facebook fan page of the Tianmu Commercial District and like the page before October 29 will be legible for raffle which offers many prizes – including a Tigerair plane ticket!

According to TCOOC, it has assisted the Taipei City Tianmu Marketplace Development Association in organizing the Tianmu Halloween Festival since 2009. The number of attendees grew from 80,000 in 2013 to 240,000 in 2019, transforming the occasion into a major festivity for Taipei City and creating lots of business for stores in the neighborhood. For this year’s event, residents, schools, businesses, and movie theaters have joined the 3 major department stores in Tianmu to recreate a haunted city with exotic characteristics, promising to provide participants with a good haunting on Halloween.

Chairperson Tang Di of Tianmu Marketplace Development Association remarked that the city government proactively works with a number of big companies to acquire over millions of quality candies and treats which are later handed out during the Halloween event to young trick-or-treaters. This year, the famous Halloween parade will take place on Friday night (October 30), with participants traveling from Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store in Tianmu to Dayeh Takashimaya Department Store. Along Zhongcheng Road Section 2, a total of 250 participating stores and businesses (identified by their pumpkin lanterns) are ready to welcome the candy-seeking kids with bucketful of treats!

The main fair of the festival will take place at the Tianmu Sports Park between 1 PM and 9 PM on Saturday, October 31. There is also guest appearance by characters from popular kids shows and mascots, including Knight Dragon Squadron Ryosoulger, Ultraman Taiga, Halloween Crazy Kuai Kuai, FOOD Man, and PX Mart FreeBear and Friends. The organizers will also give out a total of 5,000 trick-or-treat mini buckets starting at 1 PM at the following locations: SOGO Tianmu, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Tianmu Building A, and Dayeh Takashimaya Department Store.
