History 

In the late 20th century, Taipei City Government decided to combine Zhengzhong and Guting Districts into Zhongzheng District, and named it after one of the major landmarks in the area, Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, which was built to commemorate former President Chiang Kai-Shek, a.k.a. Chiang Zhong-Zheng (Chiang Chung-Cheng). Zhongzheng District boasts more historical sites than any other district in Taipei. First, there is the “Office of the President”. Formerly known as the Governor-General's Office and headquarters to the Japanese colonial administration in Taiwan, this spectacular building has served as an important landmark of Taipei City over the past 100 years. Then “The North Gate”, a Class 1 historical site, is one of the four remaining Qing-dynasty gates that were once part of the Taipei City wall, and the only one that is preserved in its original form. Besides these two historic spots, there are also many other spots that are worth visiting. Zhongzheng District is a district of historical sites, government organizations and museums.

Business 

Zhongzheng District is a commercial center and a paradise for shopping. The Taipei Main Station is the transportation hub of Taiwan Railway, High Speed Railway and Taipei Metro lines. In addition to this advantage, the Station is also a good place for shopping and eating, and a popular meeting point for students and tourists. Around the Station, the famous skyscraper SHIN KONG MITSUKOSHI department store and Kmall are also great places for shopping. The Gongguan area is also a key transit point between Taipei City and New Taipei City. The profusion of 3C shops concentrated along Bade Road shows that the electronics industry is booming in Taiwan. Aiguo East Road is filled with wedding photography studios. At night, the neon lights shining from their windows mingle with the lights of Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, further heightening the "Wedding Street's" dazzling brilliance.
