Can part-time workers be included in labor insurance program?
According to the new provisions of the Labor Pension Act being effective since July 1, 2003, the city government will pay 6% superannuation upfront while it is optional for part-time workers to contribute to its superannuation, with 6% maximum. Based on the Labor Insurance Act, all part-time employees are obligated to join the insurance program. As for National Health Insurance Act, Article 20 states that when the insured is still eligible for its insurance program originally joined and if the total part-time shift is less than three months long, the insured has to keep to its original insurance program. Therefore, for part-time workers whose job is less than three months long, have to join the National Health Insurance by themselves.
