Hakka Cultural Hall
The Taipei City Hakka Cultural Hall was established on October 3, 1998. It mainly serves as an important venue for Hakka folks and Taipei residents to gather, socialize and connect with each other. Through this place, they can also experience the history, architecture, food and daily living of the Hakka culture. Various ethnic groups converge harmoniously here in metropolitan Taipei, making it an important base for the revival of Hakka culture. It is located in bustling Lane 157, Section 3, Xinyi Road, Da’an District, next to a small community park. Inside the quiet lane, the building’s exterior uses a mix of traditional firebricks, pebbles, modern metal façades and glass curtains. A blend of tradition and modernity, the building showcases the persistence and integration of Hakka culture. The Hall provides a diversified channel for the study, succession and flourishing of cultural knowledge. In addition to allowing the public to rent the venue for seminars and performances, the HAC also continue to open the "Taipei Hakka Academy” and providing a variety of courses for the public, in order to pass on and promote Hakka culture and strengthen the participation and understanding of the public towards Hakka culture, integrate Hakka culture into their daily lives and in the process, achieve its ultimate goal of preserving the Hakka culture. Coming here, the public is given a further opportunity to experience the beauty of Hakka culture and art, whether through a quiet introduction to the traditional culture or through a dynamic Hakka language learning, ballad singing, or through modern multimedia presentations.
