To minimize the impact on residents’ day-to-day living, the FTTH project employs micro-trenching technique, which has been adopted by some of the advanced cities such as New York and London to deploy the underground optical fiber network. Instead of digging a huge hole in the road, the approach only involves installing conduits housing fiber-optic cables within the troughs cut out by professional machines. This method not only drastically mitigates the impact on traffic and the environment during construction, but also shortens the construction period.
