Taipei City Government introduced the FTTH project in an effort to implement high-quality fiber-optic network, to provide low-cost but high-speed internet access, to create a fair competitive environment for telecommunications industry, and to sharpen the city’s competitive edge. The policy is expected to create a triple-win scenario benefiting the residents, the industry players, and the city government by tapping into the vitality of the private sector. It is also part of an effort to realize the vision of Taipei as an intelligent city.
