According to provisions stated in “Management and Operation Regulations Governing the Opening of Taipei City Exclusive Bus Lanes to Passenger Vehicle Traveling,” business corporations, government organizations and schools should apply for a permit from government agencies in charge (the Public Transportation Office). Traveling is permitted on exclusive bus lanes upon application approval and permit issuance. Vehicles traveling on bus lanes without filing an application and without a permit will be fined. As per regulation, there are no specific times for passenger vehicle traveling. Additionally, private vehicles belonging to business corporations, or private passenger vehicles belonging to government agencies and schools of bigger passenger capacity – particularly large passenger vehicles of over 20 seating – will be given priority consideration for traveling on exclusive bus lanes. In principle, bus lanes with over 150 buses in service per hour are not open to passenger vehicular traveling.
