Recreating Tokyo Christmas Scenes at the 2020 Taipei Exit Music Festival

Light display at Zhongshan Linear ParkThe gleaming Tokyo Tower, the romantic message wall next to the church in Harajuku, and colorful Christmas trees – all these are familiar scenes for those who have spent their Christmas holidays in Tokyo. Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) is proud to announce that the 2020 Taipei Exit Music Festival will bring these shimmering landscapes to Taipei!

Between November 21 and February 28, the Zhongshan Linear Park will recreate the illuminated Christmas landscape from Tokyo at the section between MRT Zhongshan Station and MRT Shuanglian Station. Furthermore, a major concert featuring music heavyweights and stars will take place at the Jazz Plaza on November 21 and 22. Performers include Golden Melody winner Wawa Wei and singer Chih Siou.

From December 19 through 27, atre will also organize a fair at the venue. This is the first time for the company to collaborate with the Japanese department store atre, bringing an exotic atmosphere to the fair at the park. Based upon the theme Tokyo Takeout, the organizers invited well-known vendors including Butter Butler and Le Boulanger de Monge to set up shop at the fair.

The organizers also tapped upon another characteristic of Japanese “takeout” at the fair – food stands from En-nichi (holy day) fairs – by offering snacks such as tamagoyaki (egg roll) and taiyaki (fish-shaped cakes) every afternoon during the fair period.

Between 3 pm and 6 pm on November 21 and 22, a parade consisting of characters from the Japanese cartoon Yo-kai Watch will take place hourly at the Zhongshan Linear Park to the delight of young fans. A series of Japanese performances ranging from traditional dance to Taiko will entertain visitors at the fair as well.

On another note, TRTC is collaborating with Kawai Piano to hold a Future Talent Recital at the Sunlight Lobby of MRT Daan Park Station on December 19, bringing classical music into the halls of the metro station.
