Next Gen Moderna Bivalent Vaccine Available Starting Nov. 18
There are over 4,000 appointment slots available between November 18 and 19. Vaccination service is provided by 7 medical institutions including National Taiwan University Hospital, Taipei Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Shin Kong Memorial Hospital, and Wanhua Hospital, as well as Taipei City Hospital Zhongxing Branch, Yangming Branch, and Zhongxiao Branch. Approved for local use, the Moderna Bivalent COVID-19 Vaccine creates stronger immune response against the original strain, as well as against BA.4 and BA.5 variants. Research also indicates that the next generation vaccine is more effective against Omicron variants. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends the vaccine for booster shots (including first, second and third booster shots) for individuals 12 or older. The interval between the previous shot and the current shot should be at least 12 weeks (84 days). For those who have been infected before, the suggested interval period is three month or more after the confirmed infection date. Individuals that are eligible and plan to take the shot should remember to bring their NHI card, ID Card (or ARC), and vaccination record card (little yellow card) with them to their appointment. The eligibility of the vaccine recipient will be double-checked by the National Immunization Information System (NIIS).The Central Epidemic Command Center announced that the Moderna Bivalent BA.4/BA.5 COVID-19 Vaccine will be available starting November 18. Reservations can be made through Taipei’s Vaccination Booking Platform, which will be accessible to the public between 9 AM and 9 PM on November 10 and 11.
