Focus on Intercity Smart City Collaboration Project 2021 GO SMART Award Now Accepting Applications!
The 2021 GO SMART Award is now accepting applications!
GO SMART was established in 2019, with Taipei City Government acting as the inaugural chair to promote the program of Inter-City PoC (proof of concept). It is hoped that both the public and private sectors from smart cities around the world can transcend geographical barriers and use the GO SMART platform to combine more information, resources, and momentum, creating more opportunities for collaboration with other cities or industries.
In order to promote the collaboration in Inter-City PoC’s, GO SMART began holding the annual GO SMART Award competition in 2019, inviting applications from the industry, government, and academia on solutions in innovative smart city collaboration. Roughly 90 outstanding projects have applied for the award in the past two years. These include submissions from various local governments, industries and teams from Taiwan, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Poland, Australia, and Vietnam. In 2019, Taipei City Government won an award of excellence with its Smart Campus Electronic Fence Demo Project involving a collaboration with Amsterdam City. In 2020, Lidbot’s project with Taipei City won an award of excellence with their Smart Trash Can Demo Project. Taipei City's efforts in developing a smart city through the private-public-partnership and open collaboration have certainly borne fruit.
The 2021 GO SMART Award has invited five international experts to serve as judges. They will evaluate the entries based on four criteria: innovation, cross-domain, functionality, and impact. This award aims to discover and encourage barrier-free collaboration in the development of smart cities. The competition is accepting applications from now through November 13, 2020.
Winners will receive the awards during the 2021 Smart City Summit & Expo (March 24 to 26, 2021) and will be provided with demo booths at the event. GO SMART will also publish articles and news to boost the international exposure of award recipients and highlight the high-quality projects.
