TBS Young Broadcaster Camp: Applications Accepted Starting June 22
With Taiwan’s success in keeping the COVID-19 pandemic under control, many city venues and facilities have resumed business and open up to the public. To serve citizens, Taipei Broadcast Station (TBS) will hold 4 session of the “TBS Young Broadcaster Camp” in July.
This is the first time for TBS to organize the camp after a 1-year break. The program will be headed by professional broadcasters, instructing elementary school upper grade students on skills ranging from vocal expressions to oral expressions. The activity is free of charge, and applications will be accepted between June 22 and 24.
The first Young Broadcaster Camp, which received much positive feedback and attracted large number of participants, took place in 2017. However, the camp was suspended in 2019 to allow radio station renovations to proceed. Now, with the pandemic subsiding, TBS decided to restart the camp, hoping to introduce kids to the wonderful world of radio broadcasting.
For this year, TBS has hired topnotch talents including radio show hosts Wu Yi-jia and Shih Hsien-chin. They will guide the participants through the course. Students will learn how to utilize annunciation in their monologue to strengthen communication skills, as well as recording their own script on air and trying out the radio station’s equipment.
According to TBS Director Tina Chen, many schoolkids have suffered months of boredom due to the pandemic. Hopefully, the camp will allow kids to have fun while teaching them the ins and outs of radio broadcasting.
The 4 sessions of the TBS Young Broadcaster Camp is slated for July 15, 16, 22, and 23. For more information, please visit the Chinese website of the radio station (www.radio.gov.taipei).
