Taipei’s Biotech Companies Attend 2023 BIO International Convention in the US

Representatives of local biotech companies at 2023 BIO International ConventionAt the invitation of Taipei City Government, six top biotech companies based in Taipei City have formed a delegation to attend the 2023 BIO International Convention in Boston.

The six companies include: Formosa Pharmaceuticals; OBI Pharma; BRIM Biotech; Chang Gu Biotech; Precise Big Data Company, and PlexBio. During the 4-day-long exhibition, the members attracted the interest of international companies from over 30 countries and took part in over 200 matchmaking sessions. These achievements demonstrate the advantages of Taipei’s biotech companies on the international stage.

According to the Department of Economic Development (DOED), Taipei’s biotech firms have expanded into the fields of applied biotech, medicine, medical equipment, and even information technology. These firms showcased their respective achievements in drug development, preventative screening, smart medical care, and applied biotechnology at the expo.

To help boost the global competitiveness of local biotech companies, Taipei City Government first invited those interested to sign up for the annual delegation attending the BIO International Convention in 2018. Over the past 6 years, Taipei’s initiative has helped 36 biotech firms expand business opportunities overseas and succeeded in matchmaking efforts as witnessed by more than 600 business talk sessions.

DOED pointed out that in addition to bringing Taipei’s companies to the BIO International Convention in the US, the Taipei Bioinnovation Park jointly developed by city government and Century Biotech Development Corporation have opened its doors in March 2023. The complex offers office and multifunctional space for enterprises ranging from biotech startups to major corporations in the field.
