TRTC: Chinese Zodiac Goat One Day Pass Available Starting January 31
To herald in the Year of the Goat, Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) will be issuing a set of “Goat-themed One Day Pass” to celebrate Chinese New Year. The special version will be available starting 6 AM on Saturday, January 31. Limited to 800 sets, the commemorative package comes with three MRT One-Day Pass EasyCards along with three specially-designed red envelopes and a card sleeve. The set is priced at NT$450 and sold at the information counters of MRT Taipei Main Station and MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing Station. Each person can purchase a maximum of two sets. According to TRTC, each of the tickets bears a unique picture of goat, as “three goats (三羊)” carry auspicious meanings in Chinese. When you combine the cards, they form a bellwether with a pair of huge horns, symbolizing the role of Taipei Metro in bringing passengers to their destinations. TRTC noted that the company has been issuing zodiac tickets since 1997. The service was suspended in 2007 and resumed in 2013 with the release of “dual-dragon” (The Year of the Dragon and Year of the Snake) ticket, receiving overwhelming popularity. Recalling that the 800 sets of Horse edition EasyCard ran out of stock on the same day it was launched, TRTC reminds the public to seize the opportunity and add the Goat-themed EasyCard to their collection.
