Smart City and Expo Showcases Taipei City’s Three Award-winning Innovations. Mayor Ko Unveiled the Taipei Pavilion in Person
The 2021 Smart City Summit & Expo opened today (23) at Hall 2 of the Taipei Nangang Exhibition. Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je delivered a speech on stage as the head of the host city. This year, President Tsai Ing-wen was invited to be the award presenter of the Smart City Innovation Application Award. The Taipei City Government won three awards for projects including "Innovative Smart Transportation, Taipei Xinyi Road Self-Driving Bus," "Nangang Depot Social Housing - AIoT Artificial Intelligent Internet of Things Platform," and "Taipei Water Supply District Smart Water Meter Promotion Strategy," becoming it the biggest winner among county and city governments. In the afternoon, Mayor Ko and Deputy Mayor Huang Shan-shan visited the Taipei Pavilion and GO SMART Booth to experience the convenience brought by smart services.
Mayor Ko and Deputy Mayor Huang inaugurated the Taipei Pavilion in person. In addition, Commissioner Lu Hsin-ko of the Department of Information Technology guided visitors to the 8 exhibition areas to experience the complete municipal services of TaipeiPASS. It combines identity authentication and payment functions and offers innovative technology applications in four areas: ID cards, services, billing, and discounts. The Easy Wallet of smart economy demonstrates Taipei City's determination to promote cashless transactions. The future classroom of smart education creates a technology-based learning environment for students in the future. The smart water meter application of smart environments helps enhance leak prevention and water conservation. The YouBike 2.0 of smart transportation has added a QR code-scanning car rental service.
Mayor Ko also visited the smart building at Nangang Depot social housing, experiencing the emerging technology of AIoT to feedback and optimize the power saving mode. He also stopped by the Fingerprinting E mobile workstation for the elderly with dementia of smart security constructed by the Taipei City Police Department. The last stop was about the dementia care of smart healthy that integrates technology, safety, and humanities, which employs technology to assist in dementia care and constructs a smart and livable capital from eight aspects.
The Mayor and the Deputy Mayor next went to the GO SMART Booth, where they were introduced to the excellent smart city solutions on display from the 2020 and 2021 GO SMART Awards, such as the one proposed by LINE Fukuoka (Fukuoka LINE Inc.). The service provides the latest travel information for Taipei City and Fukuoka City via LINE; the real-time monitoring and cloud-based management system for garbage cans implemented in Taipei City Hall by Lidbot in cooperation with the city’s Secretariat. This year, Taipei City Government was nominated for the GO SMART Award for its technology-based epidemic prevention solutions, including the pilot project of the real-name registration mask vending system, the pandemic dashboard, and the myCode real-co (name) system, all of which provide assistance during the pandemic and assist COVID-19 prevention work with the power of technology.
The 2021 Smart City Summit & Expo will be held between March 23 and 26. In addition to regular stage attractions, introductions of municipal services, and interactive questions and answers, visitors can scan the QR code of the exhibition to participate in the online point collection activities. The city government welcomes everyone to visit its pavilion.
