Taipei Delegation Visits Nantou County Government
Following visits to the municipalities of Chiayi City and Yunlin County, a delegation consisting of city officials from Taipei City Government arrived at Nantou County Government (NCG) for a 2-day visit on September 19.
Under the arrangement of NCG, the delegation stopped by major attractions in the municipality and policy-related sites, including: National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute, Chung Tai Chan Monastery, Fusing Farm Hot Spring District, and Tai-yi Ecological Leisure Farm.
The administrative team from the two local governments attended an exchange session and discussed a wide range of topic related to municipality governance. Taipei’s delegation reported on the planning of hiking trails, soil integrity maintenance, and indigenous culture preservation. Nantou’s official shared their experiences from the 5 Major Industry Park and its strategies on tourism promotion and marketing.
During his address, Deputy Mayor Pong Cheng-sheng expressed his gratitude on behalf of the city government to Nantou’s Deputy Magistrate Chen Cheng-sheng and Secretary-general Hong Jui-chih. He recalled that during his service in the military, he used to spend 80-percent of his time in Nantou, which is he is so familiar with the county. Pong also remarked that Deputy Mayor Tsai Ping-kun is a native of Nantou County as well.
Pong pointed out that while Nantou only has 480,000 residents and an annual budget of NT$29 billion, the county government still managed to carry out five major construction projects with a steady pace. He cited the earlier visit to the Fuxing Farm Hot Spring District, which is effectively the relocation of Lu-shan Hot Spring District. He praised the county’s effort in accomplishing the feat despite limited budget and manpower, noting that the experience is worthy of imitation.
