Short Tour of Ximen Friendly Stores Available for Signup
The “Ximen: Leader of X Trend and Culture” short tour is now available for signup! The registration period will last through June 22. The tour will be held on June 28, with a total of 16 slots available.
Led by Huang Yung-chuan from the Red House Cultural History Studio, participants will have a chance to learn about local stories of Ximending, as well as visiting a number of well-known shops such as Ximen Mango Shaved Ice, Ray Gue Hua Company, and Retro Storied Grandpa Tea!
In the interest of establishing a friendly shopping environment and supporting the development of commercial districts, the Taipei City Office of Commerce (TCOOC) began recruiting businesses interested in serving as “friendly stores” in 2016. These stores provide services to diversified group of tourists and visitors.
These “friendly stores” offer additional services which makes visitors more at home, which may include the followings: language-friendly environment (English, Japanese, and Korean); mobile phone power recharge; Free WiFi; universal access facilities; gender-friendly environment; convenient payment options; vegetarian-friendly environment; Muslim-friendly environment; pet-friendly environment; accessible restrooms; fair trade-friendly environment; breast-feeding-friendly environment; cyclists-friendly environment, and more. These shops can be identified via the recognizable icon.
TCOOC remarked that it will organize 7 short tour sessions at commercial districts across Taipei, allowing participants to experience the friendly services provided by these shops and the unique charms of the respective commercial districts. From June through August, the short tour sessions include: Ximen, Minsheng Community; Xinzhongshan Linear Park; Yongkang and Tianmu commercial districts. Each tour is led by a professional guide.
