Taipei Zoo Introduces Bilingual Tour Pamphlet for Kids

An experimental guided tour for students in English at the zooOn May 27, Taipei Zoo invited students and faculties from Wanfu Elementary School and members from the Soroptimist International of Taipei Girls’ Power to conduct a pilot session of bilingual guided tour of the institution. The experimental tour covered facilities such as Giant Panda House, Pangolin Dome, Children’s Zoo, and Tropical Rainforest Area.

Taipei Zoo is now taking further steps in strengthening bilingual education! It has joined hands with National Development Council and schools in Wenshan District to introduce the “Taipei Zoo Bilingual Guided Tour Leaning Handbook”. In the future, teachers and students visiting Taipei Zoo on field trips will be able to utilize the publication to learn more about the zoo, sharpen their English skills, and improve their knowledge on animal conservation.

Zoo Director Chen Yi-tsun pointed out that in light of rapid globalization, Taipei Zoo is also working on the promotion of bilingual education and tours. As a key institution in educating the public on animal protection and conservation, Taipei Zoo joined hands with its partners to publish the handbook, hoping that local students will educate their peers from around the world on Taipei Zoo and raise their awareness on ecosystem sustainability issues.

The agency also collaborated with World Family Taiwan to create the “We are All Young English Guides” bilingual zoo guide pamphlet in January 2023. Learners can utilize this publication to learn how to introduce animals in English, allowing young kids to play a role in helping us protect wildlife.
