Deadline Looms for 2019 Taipei Grand Trail Photography Competition
To encourage people to venture outdoors and get close to Mother Nature, the Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) hosted the 2019 Taipei Grand Trail Photography Competition, inviting avid photographers to capture the splendor and grandeur of the hiking trails through their cameras.
Surrounded by mountains, the Taipei Basin features diverse, changing geographic terrains and natural ecology. The 5 major mountains of Datun, Qixing, Wuzhi, Nangang, and Erge have always been the most popular hiking destinations and nature getaways for the citizens of Taipei.
According to the GEO, the photography competition consists of 80 prizes in total – with the grand prize reaching NT$100,000. The contest is open to all photography enthusiasts.
The theme of the competition is divided into the Taipei Grand Trail and Taipei City Trail; all photographs captured between July 1, 2018, and July 15, 2019, can be submitted for the competition before July 15, 2019, by following the competition rules (http://www.chphoto.com.tw/tgtpc.htm). We invite you to explore the breathtaking beauty of Taipei City’s mountains while completing your Once in a Lifetime Journey.
Chief Chen Yen-cheng of GEO’s Industrial and Trail Section stated that the Taipei Grand Trail is 92km long and more than 2,000 people have completed the frottage and photo collecting exercise. To further promote the event, besides giving away Full Steam Ahead to Success sports towels, the 2,000th, 2,010th, 2,020th (so on and so forth), all the way to the 3,000th person to complete the exercise will receive a copy of the Taipei Trail Guide (101 copies for 101 participants).
