Hakka Traditional Arts Community Performance Tour Kicks-off in September
The annual Taipei Hakka Literature and Arts Activity Community Tours will stage performances across all 12 of Taipei’s administrative districts between September 6 and November 4.
A total of 13 show sessions offers Taipei residents a chance to learn more about Hakka’s traditional culture. The performances include Hakka innovative arts, traditional plays, popular music, and interactive activities for the entire families.
The artists taking to the stage include Daniel Lo, Kids of Rock, iColor, Voter Hsu, Mr. and Mrs. Hakka, DONG, B-MAX, Chio Tian Folks Drums and Arts Troupe, Hung Ru Music Group, Shan Puppetry Theater, and more!
Taipei Hakka Affairs Commission Chairperson Xi Shi-xun remarked that in the interest of bringing Hakka arts and culture closer to the community, the agency decided to readjust its approach and organized the Hakka performance tour starting 2016. It worked with the district offices and borough offices and invited outstanding Hakka performers and groups to organize shows at the community level. The focus this year will be on allowing residents to listen to and have fun with, as well as to experience, Hakka culture.
In addition to the stage performances, there are also numerous fun activities at the venue, including DIY course on making Hakka products such as paper umbrellas, square-shaped lion masks, and Tung blossom attire painting, as well as Hakka delicacies such as Hakka mochi and herb tea.
