DOH: Taipei City’s COVID Update for January 6
The Department of Health (DOH) reported a total of 15 imported COVID-19 cases for Taipei on January 6.
The age groups of the individuals span from a kid under 10 to those in their 70’s. The patients include 8 men and 7 women. The patients arrived from countries such as the US (cases 17267, 17270, 17274, 17288, 17291, and 17292), Canada (case 17269), UAE (case 17283), India (cases 17290 and 17296), Italy (case 17293), Holland (case 17294), UK (case 17295), Sweden (case 17297), and China (case 17298). The cases were identified either upon entry or during quarantine and have been relocated to hospitals for isolation and further treatment.
Regarding the COVID cluster at a quarantine hotel in Zhongzheng District, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) reclassified Case 17127 as a domestic case. To prevent the further spread of the virus and to obtain a clearer picture of the chain of spread, DOH is conducting contact-tracing and testing all staff members and guests at the hotel:
As for Taipei City’s vaccination status, DOH reported that a total of 1,448 people received their first shot, 7,203 people received their second shots, 5,634 people got their third shot, and 534 people received their additional shot for immunocompromised between January 3 and 5. In light of a possible domestic wave, the agency calls upon the public to get vaccinated if they haven’t yet.
