DOH: Taipei City’s COVID Update for December 28
The Department of Health (DOH) reported a total of 6 imported cases for Taipei City on December 28. The patients include one man and five women from age groups between 20’s to 80’s. Three of the cases arrived from the US (Case 17043, 17045, 17046, and 17056), one from Switzerland (Case 17044), and one from Cambodia (Case 17053).
All the cases were tested positive either upon entry or during quarantine. The patients have been relocated to hospitals for isolation and further treatment.
DOH reminded those completing home quarantine with negative result on the final PCR test that they will still need to undergo 7 days of self-monitoring. For those experiencing symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, respiratory issues, and loss of smell/taste, they should take a COVID-19 test as soon as possible. A total of seven hospitals in Taipei City – Taipei City Hospital Heping Branch, Zhongxing Branch, Renai Branch, Yangming Branch, Zhongxiao Branch, Guandu Hospital, and Wanfang Hospital – offer COVID-19 tests (https://webreg.tpech.gov.tw、https://www.gandau.gov.tw、https://www.wanfang.gov.tw). According to DOH, the pandemic remains a mounting threat for countries around the world. It also calls upon the public to get vaccinated and/or get booster shots to protect oneself and each other. Those interested can either book an appointment online or sign up on site at designated hospitals.
In addition, a temporary vaccination station will operate at the east and west corridors inside Taipei Train Station from 1 through 8 PM on December 29. Moderna vaccines (first and second dose) will be available. Those who successfully receive their shots at the site will receive a gift voucher worth NT$100. Those eligible for a vaccine shot will need to bring their NHI Card and COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card (“Yellow Card”).
