To herald in the Chinese New Year, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has designated the period between January 11 and February 10 as the city’s annual “End-of-the-year Cleanup” dates.
DEP advises the public to commence their household cleaning and removing bulky waste as early as possible to avoid producing an excessive amount of garbage a week prior to the Chinese New Year holiday—especially with this year’s 6-day-long holiday period.
In addition to conventional way of making appointments with the department’s cleaning crew via 1999 Citizen Hotline to have your bulky waste collected, DEP also offers 12 district-specific QR Codes. This allows smart device users to scan the code and access the latest trash removal information for their boroughs.
Those who have made appointments with the district cleanup crew should move the oversized waste to the ground floor near their home to facilitate the pickup process.
In addition, DEP also unveiled the modified garbage collection schedule for the Lunar New Year period:
