German Mission Visits City Hall
Deputy Mayor Chou Li-fang met with Germany-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group led by Chair Klaus-Peter Willsch at city hall on June 1. The meeting discussed a number of topics spanning intelligent city, aging populations, cultural and art exchanges, youth programs, and strengthening of international partnership. Chou noted that Taipei has much to learn from Germany, which enjoys a good reputation for its achievements in areas such as social insurance, long-term care, feed-in tariff scheme, renewable energy policy, and approaches to building sustainable, ecological, and green cities. One of the delegates, German Parliamentarian Jens Koeppen, inquired about the city government’s organization, number of employees, and structure, as well as policies regarding personal information protection, availability of government information, smart city, and e-government. The deputy mayor explained the City’s smart city initiatives to the dignitaries, covering cloud data and open data policies. Lauding the capital’s active role in the building of a smart city, Willsch promised to become a bridge between the two sides in establishing sister cities partnerships. The German delegation will also pay official visits to Office of the President, Legislative Yuan, and other government institutions.
