Mayor Inaugurates New Administration Building at Guangci Social Housing

Mayor Ko inspecting facilities inside the buildingOn December 5, Mayor Ko Wen-je presided over the inauguration ceremony for the new administration building at Guangci Boai Park.

During his address, he pointed out that the Guangi Boai Park incorporates facilities such as social housing, administration building, and medical and social service offices. In the future, a new entrance leading to a metro station on the Xinyi Line Eastern Extension will be added to make access even more convenient.

Ko believes that after years of effort and investment, the social housing project in Taipei is no longer simple housing and has taken on four additional missions: fulfillment of housing justice; forerunner of city aesthetics; locomotive for Taiwan’s smart building industry, and model case for future communities.

The mayor pointed out that the both sections D and E inside the Guangci Social Housing are now open, while section C is currently being constructed. The buildings inaugurated today are located in sections A and B.

Section A is the administration center where government agencies currently stationed at Xinyi District Office will be relocated in the future, and will serve as a home to a future library. Meanwhile, Section B will host city agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and the Department of Health, as well as other medical and social welfare institutions.

At the end of his speech, Ko expressed his gratitude to all those who have worked on the project. He also pointed out that the Guangci Social Housing is the ‘flagship model’ demonstrating Taipei’s vision of a sustainable city and testifying to its pledge of pursig housing justice.
