Mayor Kicks-off 2023 Calla Lily and Hydrangea Festival

Speaking to the audience, the mayor noted that the event today marks the start of the annual Zhuzihu Calla Lily season, and what is special about this year is the opening date coincides with White Valentine’s Day. The white color calla lilies fit right in with the color theme of the special day. 


This year’s Calla Lily Festival will last through April 23. The Hydrangea Festival will pick up afterwards, taking place between May 20 and June 18. Hopefully, the crowds will bring more business opportunities to stores in the area and boost overall economic benefits for the community. He invites the public to come and enjoy the sea of calla lilies at Zhuzihu and immerse themselves in the romantic atmosphere of the flower fields.


Regarding related activities during the Calla Lily Festival period, the mayor pointed out examples such as special admission tickets to local farms with “spend NT$50 purchase and obtain NT$50 as bonus” promotion. The city government will also schedule mini-tours of the vicinity let by experienced guides. Meanwhile, there are 11 locations across the venue sporting floriculture artworks for people to take photos and selfies with, as well as temporary stations offering photo printing service.


The mayor said he is pleased by the opening performances featuring students from Hutian Elementary School and Hwa Kang Arts School. These young men and women demonstrate the vitality of the community and the results from their studies. He also expressed his gratitude to the Beitou Farmers’ Association, Taipei Farmers’ Association, Hutian Community Development Association, and Zhuzihu Recreation and Farm Industry Zone for helping to make the Calla Lily Festival a success.
