City Government, Farglory to Renegotiate Taipei Dome Contract
Taipei City Government and Farglory Land Development Co. have agreed to renegotiate the contract on the construction of Taipei Dome. The announcement came following a meeting between Mayor Ko Wen-je and Farglory Chairman Chao Teng-hsiung on January 21.
Furthermore, the city government issued the following comments in response to the requests set forth by Farglory:
1. Regarding tree relocation: Farglory must follow the SOP set out by the city government to transplant trees along Guangfu South Road and Zhongxiao East Road.
2. Regarding the underpass: Construction of the planned underpass—to be used for evacuation in the event of emergencies—will continue based on a revised design. The City will seek opinions from tree conservation groups and National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall on the subject.
3. The City promises Farglory administrative assistance in the relocation of MRT Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station Exit 5 and its ventilation shaft, as the project is under pressure to meet completion deadline.
4. The City will hold Farglory accountable for fulfilling its commitment in completing the construction of Taipei Dome by the end of 2015.
The two sides will form their separate task forces to deal with follow-up issues related with the project. The committees will be in direct contact with each other, and will be headed by Deputy Mayor Teng Chia-ji and General Manager of Farglory Tang Chia-feng, respectively.
