June 20: MRT Red Line Conducts Shuttle Train Simulation between Xinbeitou Station and Daan Station for One Day
Attention! Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation will implement the MRT Tamsui-Xinyi (Red) Line Shuttle Train Simulation between Xinbeitou Station and Daan Station on June 20 for the duration of one day, and relevant testing details will be announced in the community briefing at 19:00 on June 18. The chosen venue is Taipei Beitou Junior High School.
As per the Taipei City Mayor’s Town Hall Meeting with Beitou District Borough Chiefs held in May, the chiefs of Changan Village, Zhongxin Village, Wenquan Village, and Linquan Village proposed the MRT Tamsui-Xinyi (Red) Line Shuttle Train between Xinbeitou Station and Daan Station Project, and the mayor has instructed TRTC to carry out a simulation test between Xinbeitou Station and Daan Station. After devising a meticulous plan, the TRTC convened a community briefing on June 18 at the Taipei Beitou Junior High School (No. 62, Wenquan Rd., Beitou Dist.), and the shuttle trains along Tamsui-Xinyi Line traveled between Xinbeitou Station and Daan Station Project on a temporary basis on June 20 (Thursday) for the duration of one day. Notices for the community briefing have been delivered to the local residents for their reference. Everyone is welcome to attend the community briefing, and passengers are reminded to observe the train schedule on the day of the test.
On June 20 (Thursday), the terminal station of shuttle trains operating along the Red Line will be changed from MRT Beitou Station to MRT Xinbeitou Station, and the headway along the same line will undergo minor adjustment. Meanwhile, the transfer time for cross-platform interchanges at MRT Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall Station and MRT Dongmen Station will also vary slightly, therefore passengers are reminded to leave early in order to make sure they board the MRT trains on time. The company will also collaborate with environmental authorities and an impartial third party to measure the noise level of shuttle trains operating between MRT Xinbeitou Station and MRT Beitou Station for future reference.
The adjusted operating mode and headway in response to the Red Line shuttle train testing on June 20 are shown below:
【Peak hours (07:00-09:00, 17:00-19:30)】
2 operating modes: Tamsui-Xiangshan, Xinbeitou-Xiangshan, each has a headway of approximately 6 minutes and 40 seconds (the overlapping section between Beitou and Daan and Xiangshan is about 3 minutes and 20 seconds).
【Off-peak hours (06:00-07:00, 09:00-17:00, 19:30-23:00)】
2 operating modes: Tamsui-Xiangshan, Xinbeitou-Daan, each has a headway of approximately 8-9 minutes (the overlapping section between Beitou and Daan is about 4 minutes to 4 minutes and 30 seconds).
【Late night hours (23:00-midnight)】
2 operating modes: Tamsui-Xiangshan, Xinbeitou-Beitou, each has a headway of approximately 12 minutes (no shuttle trains were available for this time segment).
On the day of the test, passengers traveling between stations south of MRT Beitou Station on the MRT Xinbeitou Branch Line will not need to disembark at MRT Beitou Station and transfer to another train (except for late night hours after 23:00). In addition, due to the micro adjustments in headway to accommodate the test, the cross-platform interchange time at MRT Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall Station and MRT Dongmen Station will also vary slightly. In addition to monitoring and documenting the system’s operation throughout the process, the TRTC will also collaborate with environmental authorities and an impartial third party to measure the noise level of shuttle trains operating between MRT Xinbeitou Station and MRT Beitou Station, and the final report will be presented to the city government by the end of July for future reference.
