Internet Celebrities Honored at 2022 KOL Taipei Festival

Internet celebrities at the award ceremonyOn December 7, a number of internet celebrities and key opinion leaders (KOL) gathered at city hall’s center lobby for the TY Star Internet Celebrities Award Ceremony. The winners of the Sun Division, Moon Division, Star Division, and Momo Popularity Award received their certificates at the event. 


For the younger generations, internet marketing has become an integral part of the digital economy. The 2022 KOL Taipei Festival is an event spotlighting these internet celebrities co-organized by Taipei City Office of Commerce and New Media Application Development Association (NMADA). 


City Spokesperson Vicky Chen noted that this year’s Taipei KOL Carnival took place at the Xiangti Avenue Plaza, attracting over hundreds of influencers. The roles of internet celebrities in marketing campaigns help merchants boost their profiles and secure more business opportunities. The KOLs also assist commercial districts in Taipei to adapt to new promotion methods and identify activity spotlights. The event also seeks to promote online shopping platforms and third-party payment, encouraging stores to adopt new business formats and carry out digital transformation. 


NMADA Chairman Chen Yi-wen remarked that even though this year’s KOL Carnival lasted only three days, the attendance of over one hundred internet celebrities generated 80 news reports and over 1 million accesses. Through the integration of the virtual and the real world, businesses are able to increase both earnings and fame. Overall, the KOL Festival creates a 4-way win-win situation for the government, partner stores, internet celebrities, and the association. 


A member of the TY Star jury panel pointed out that in addition to evaluating winners based on statistics, their innovation and creativity expressed in their personal media is also an important factor for consideration. From videos to IG account contents, it is clear how the respective influencers are able to attract viewer’s attention with unique charms.
