Taiwan Expo 2019 in Indonesia Kicks Off in Late September

The Taiwan Expo 2019 in Indonesia will be held at the Grand City Convex (GCC) Exhibition Hall in Surabaya, Indonesia, from September 26 to 28.

After the Taiwan Expo in Malaysia, Taipei City Government’s Department of Economic Development (DOED) has led a delegation consisting of 14 Taipei-based enterprises to attend Taiwan Expo 2019 in Indonesia; inspired by the theme of Taipei Your Partner, the exhibition pavilion combines exhibitions and online sales to promote outstanding products from Taipei to the local public and businesses.

The diverse exhibitors encompass categories such as consumer electronics, cosmetics, cultural and creative educational products as well as fashion and lifestyle. According to statistics from LAZADA, the leading e-commerce firm in Southeast Asia, these were the most popular products purchased by Indonesian consumers during the Double 11 (Singles Day) in 2018. The DOED suggested local Internet celebrities will be invited to attend the exhibition, while offline product presentations are combined with online video streaming to reach more businesses and citizens. In doing so, an element of fun and novelty is introduced to the expo, and visitors will be able to receive the latest exhibition information updates! The aim of Taiwan Expo 2019 in Indonesia is to provide Taipei enterprises with more opportunities to expand their business.

MIRAE face mask, a product of one of the participating firms Shiny Brands Group, is well-known among Taiwanese consumers, and it has already demonstrated a respectable sales performance in the Southeast Asian market. The brand was introduced to Indonesia in mid-2019; according to the Assistant Manager of Shiny Brands’ Indonesian subsidiary Dennis Chua, the exhibited products have obtained Indonesia’s Halal accreditation, and he is glad to meet more potential buyers in the expo, thereby developing the brick-and-mortar and online channels and tapping into the Indonesian market.

The company strives to market premium MIT products to Europe and the US through the B2C e-commerce platform. In addition, Taipei City Government has devised themes such as Invest Taipei and Connect Taipei to facilitate a partnership between industries and businesses in Taipei City and Indonesia.
