DOH: Taipei City’s COVID Update for September 21
The Department of Health (DOH) reported a total of 2 confirmed COVID-19 cases for Taipei City on September 21.
The cases are all imported, arriving from South Africa and Turkey. These individuals produced the required COVID-19 RT-PCR negative test reports upon entry and remained in quarantine hotels, but a follow-up screening showed positive results.
The agency also listed the public areas visited by Case 16254 (a woman in her 20’s living in Shilin District) between September 18 and 19. These include Dayeh Takashimaya Department Store, Miramar Cinemas, and SOGO Department Store in Tianmu.
The businesses have been notified by DOH to conduct disinfection and cleaning. A total of 852 SMS were dispatched on September 20 to alert those with overlapping contact-tracing history with the confirmed case. They are also reminded to seek medical attention if they develop any COVID-like symptoms. DOH has also arranged testing for 24 individuals with close contact records and 33 individuals with overlapping contact history. Among these, 27 people have negative PCR results.
With the approach of autumn, DOH reminds citizens that the Level 2 COVID Alert will remain in effect through October 4. The public should continue to practice measures such as frequent hand-washing, coughing etiquette, wearing face mask, social distancing, and avoiding crowd situations.
