The 2016 Chinese New Year Street Bazaar is here! Mayor Ko Wen-je attended the kick-off event at Dihua Street in the afternoon of January 23.
During his address, the mayor did not forget to help local vendors promote business. He joked that while he encourages people to visit the street bazaar to conduct their shopping for the New Year, the most important thing is to spend money to boost the local economy.
He also wished the audience a happy Chinese New Year, as well as health and prosperity in the coming year.
Following the opening ceremony, the mayor handed out “prosperity coins” to shoppers visiting the Chinese New Year Street Bazaar. He also visited the Xiahai City God Temple to offer his prayers.
Afterwards, Ko visited the Ningxia commercial district to hand out “prosperity coins” to shoppers and wished them happy holidays.
