Mayor: Use EasyCard App to Collect Prosperity Money
On February 4, Taipei City Government announced a collaboration with 7 major temples across Taiwan to organize the “Taipei Ox Year Red Envelope – Prosperity Money through EasyCard Wallet” campaign. Mayor Ko Wen-je expressed his gratitude to the participating temples for playing their part in keeping people’s mind calm through faith during the pandemic crisis.
Due to COVID-19, numerous temples across Taiwan decided not to cancel popular Chinese New Year events such as “planting the first incense” rituals and prosperity money giveaway. In light of this, the EasyCard Corporation introduced the Taipei Ox Year Red Envelope campaign, allowing users to scan QR Code with their app for a chance to receive prosperity money from the 7 partner temples without having to queue up in long lines.
On the first day of Chinese New Year, the partner temples will give away roughly NT$320,000 in prosperity money through the app (each unit of prosperity money is NT$5). Each EasyCard account can receive up to 2 units of prosperity money, which is available in limited supply.
The 7 partner temples include: Songshan Ciyou Temple, Taiwan Provincial City God Temple, Guandu Temple, Bangka Longshan Temple, Lukang Matsu Temple, Beigang Chaotian Temple, and Taitung Xuanwu Temple.
During his address, the mayor thanked the temples for participating
in the campaign and wished everyone a happy Year of the Ox. He reminded the public to scan the QR code either at the temple ground or online for a chance to collect prosperity without violating social distancing rules.
