New TCPD Building Inaugurated, Receives Donation from Cihui Temple

The new building housing the TCPD Criminal Investigation DivisionThe Criminal Investigation Division of Taipei City Police Department (TCPD) received a generous donation of 300 isolation gowns from Songshan Ciyou Temple. The invaluable support comes just in time for the inauguration of the new headquarter of the division.

The new administrative building housing the Criminal Investigation Division is located at Number 219 of Chongqing North Road Section 2. The brand-new 17-story office building with 5 basement floors is a green edifice which integrates solar power and water reuse mechanisms. The building’s appearance is designed to reflect the cultural and historical heritages of Datong District.

The old building of the Criminal Investigation Division at Wuchang Street Section was built in 1989. The 30-year-old structure does not have enough space to accommodate all the members of the division, which now encompasses 21 affiliated units. Furthermore, the dated facility is unable to provide sufficient support for modern security enforcement standards and high-tech criminal investigation equipment.

Plans for constructing a new building began in 2000 with a design competition. After two decades of negotiations, planning, and construction, the facility was finally completed and inaugurated this year, becoming a new landmark in Datong District.

Thanks to the updated and modernized structure, the affiliated units have been relocated to the building. Work performance have also been greatly increased, thanks to the building’s compatibility with high tech facilities and modernized law enforcement approaches. This allows the police force in creating a safer and more friendly living environment for citizens.
