The Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) recently launched the “Small Children with Big Dreams” program, inviting the most adorable mascot in Taiwan “Bravo” and 6 celebrities to bring positive energy to 6 elementary schools throughout Taiwan and share their dreams with the local school children. This time, the founder of the “368 Towns and Townships Photography Project” Chen Yen-yu is appointed as the dream ambassador to raise 20 SLR cameras for school children in Taitung so that they can propagate the beauty of Taiwan globally.
On May 23, Daniel Wong, the first dream ambassador, and Bravo arrived in Pingtung to convey the dream and mission of “Bold Creativity”. Bravo shared his insight and experience in becoming Taipei City’s mascot, while Daniel presented his stunning works from major international fashion shows. The children were captivated by his story and made a date with him to attend a fashion show together! Daniel, Bravo, and the children unleashed their creativity on the kites and flew them together on the field, with Bravo running around and creating a joyful and entertaining ambiance. The woodcarving and embroidery skills of children from Taiwu Elementary School have put them on the world map; next year, they aspire to participate in the Festival of Pacific Arts to launch their dreams like the soaring kites in the sky!
The second leg of Small Children with Big Dreams will take place at Taitung County Changbin Elementary School on June 13, where Chen Yen-yu is appointed as the dream ambassador. The Photography Club of Changbin Elementary School has never owned a camera, and the children can only practice taking pictures using tablets. In order to materialize the children’s dream of learning photography, Chen Yen-yu started the Raising 20 SLR Camera campaign on his fan page. Bravo also shared the event through Facebook, hoping to rally everyone’s support to let the little photography enthusiasts have the opportunity to use a real camera and capture the beauty of their hometown. On June 13, Bravo and Chen Yen-yu will travel to Changbin Elementary School to deliver the presents collected from throughout Taiwan. In addition to teaching the children fundamental techniques of using the cameras, they will also communicate the positive belief of Boldly Envision and Pursue Your Dreams, and Chen Yen-yu will also share his thoughts and perseverance in finishing the 368 Towns and Townships Photography Project despite all the obstacles and challenges along the way. The camera collection activity will end on June 10, so an appeal is made to everyone to support the cause in allowing the children to document their lives and share the magnificence of their hometown with the world.
