The Department of Social Welfare (DOSW) announced that the city government will hold an information session on its social welfare programs for 2015 in the form of “Civil Cafe” at the Youth Development Office on February 26.
The approach is in line with the mayor’s commitment to promoting open government and public participation, as well as upholding the spirit of community empowerment.
According to Social Welfare Commissioner Hsu Li-min, the event will be divided into two sessions on February 26. An introduction of the City’s social policies and results in 2013 is slated for the morning session, while lively discussions between government officials and citizens will be the spotlight for the afternoon session.
The agency seeks to invite 100 participants from private organizations or individuals as guests. It hopes that the collective wisdom of the attendees will serve as reference for drafting social policies that truly reflect the needs of the public.
Being the first Civil Café to be organized under Mayor Ko’s administration, Hsu hopes it will set an example for other municipalities. DOSW will go on to hold an “action learning” workshop where a coach will lead DOSW staff in analyzing conclusions from the Café and transform them into practical plans.
Advance registration is open to interested individuals and organizations. Registration will be accepted from 5 PM on January 28 to 5 PM on February 6.
