The presence of another major tech group not only boosts the development of Taipei City, but also brings new work opportunities and strengthens the island’s economy.

During his address, the mayor noted that the New Kinpo Group won the bid for the superficies of T16 zone in the tech park. Group members Compal Electronics and AcBel Polytech will jointly invest in the development of the smart office area. Taking up roughly 78,000 pings, the new headquarters and surrounding facilities are expected to create over 7,000 job openings, bringing roughly NT$22.3 billion in terms of financial benefits for the government.

Chiang pointed out that in the future, more facilities in the park will be accessible, including exhibition/performance spaces, service-type malls, and multifunctional areas, as well as dining and beverages, fitness gyms, shuttle buses, and YouBike rental stations. In addition to innovation and diversity, the park will provide various services and functions, making it an ideal place for locals to visit and relax. The project promises to become an exemplary model of public-private collaboration.

In terms of carbon emission reduction and net zero goals, the park highlights energy conservation and energy generation. The mayor pointed out that Taipei City is leading efforts in creating a sustainable city through reducing carbon emission.

Regarding traffic, the Beitou-Shilin Technology Park connects with both Nangang Software Park and Neihu Technology Park to form the “Tech Corridor,” playing an important role in driving Taipei’s economic growth. The ideal location helps to alleviate Neihu’s traffic pains. The Fuguo Road Overpass, a long-awaited facility that promises to shorten commute time, has also been inaugurated on January 19.

At the end of his speech, the mayor expressed his gratitude to the New Kinpo Group for selecting the Beitou-Shilin Tehnology Park for its headquarters. He stressed that the city government will put in its full effort to the park’s planning to attract more investments in the future.
