Mayor Chiang Wan-an presided over the “Megacity Pass Presale Flash Promotion” event at MRT Taipei City Hall Station on June 15. Taking on the role of one-day station staff, he pointed out that the new monthly pass will allow users to access the MRT, public bus, coach, train, and even YouBike across 4 municipalities in northern Taiwan.

Wearing station staff uniform, the mayor pointed out that presales for the Megacity Pass kicked-off today and encourages those interested in the product to act fast, as there will likely be long lines by the end of this month. He stressed that the pass is available via ticket vending machines inside MRT stations and top-up machines at Kuo-kuang bus terminals. SuperCard holders can purchase the Megacity Pass online through their Easy Wallet APP. 

Chiang remarked that he has always been a proponent of the NT$1200 monthly pass since his first day in office. To achieve this objective, the city government has worked hard to win the central government’s support both financially and in the form of hardware. It also established a common ground among the four municipalities involved after numerous meetings to secure their support. 

Starting July 1, the public will have access to a powerful public transportation “key” providing access to MRT trains, buses, coaches, TRA trains, and shared bicycles across 4 northern municipalities at a low cost of NT$1,200 a month!

The city government encourages everyone to use the monthly pass, which not only reduces transportation costs for commuters, but also goes a long way to help Taipei City achieve the vision of 2050 Net Zero emissions. He hopes that the new tool will boost Taipei’s green transportation usage rate from 60-percent to 70-percent.

At the end of his speech, the mayor mentioned that the Department of Transportation is also holding an online survey. Those who complete the survey will have a chance of bringing home a MegaCity Pass gift set. With only 500 boxes available, each gift set comes with 3 special EasyCards commemorating the release of the Megacity Pass.
