City Announced New Guideline for Gyms, Reservations Open for 14th Round of Vaccination Booking

Adjusted COVID prevention guidelines for local gyms and fitness roomsThe Department of Sports Affairs announced new guidelines for users of gyms and fitness rooms in Taipei City. Starting May 31, those entering these facilities and produce evidence of having taken at least 3 shots at the entrance will be allowed to remove their face mask during exercise.
 
For those who cannot produce evidence of 3 or more vaccine shots, he or she will still be required to wear face mask at all times in the facility. The facility operators will need to implement measures to enforce routine checks and ensure compliance with the guideline.
 
If a customer at the facility experiences COVID-like symptoms, he or she should return home or seek medical assistance as soon as possible. In the event where a confirmed case enters the facility, the gym/fitness room must shut down for the day to conduct disinfection. Visitors should keep track of their own conditions before deciding to visit the gym.
 
The Department of Health also announced that the 14th round of COVID vaccine reservation is now available via the city’s booking platform. The platform is open to the public from 9 AM through 5 PM between May 31 and June 1. Vaccine choices include children BNT vaccine, BNT vaccine for 12 or older, Moderna vaccine, and MVC vaccine. A total of 67,095 openings is available for signup.
 
Confirmation notices will be dispatched on June 2 for appointments between June 6 and June 12. For those who need to cancel the appointment, please do so during business hours of the booking platform. For cancellation after the platform closes, please call the respective hospital or clinic to cancel the appointment.
 
Those eligible to book appointments during the 14th round of COVID vaccination registration include the follows:
 

  • Children between 5 and 11 who plan to take the first dose of BNT vaccine
  • Children between 6 and 11 who plan to take the first dose of Moderna vaccine
  • Individuals between 12 and 64 who plan to take the first, second, or booster shot.
  • Individuals 65 or older who plan to take the first, second, booster, or second booster shot.
 
DOH reminds those signing up via the booking platform to provide accurate information when filling out the forms. For any questions about the platform, please call the 1999 Citizens’ Hotline (ext. 1801 or 1807).
 
For those who do not have time to book appointments via the online platform, walk-ins are accepted at the mid-size vaccination stations at Taipei Railway Station and MRT Songshan Station. If possible, DOH encourages residents to book their appointment online ahead of time to avoid crowded lines.
