Research, Development and Evaluation Commission, Taipei City Government conducted a poll in late January to understand people’s opinions about the Taipei New Year’s Eve Countdown Party (hereinafter referred to as “the Party”) and the arrangements of the 9-in-1 local government elections in 2018. 
The poll results indicate 85% of the 1,171 respondents know about the Party at the Taipei City Hall Plaza, and 73% watched the Party live or related news on TV. In addition, 38% are satisfied with the Party, but 46% do not express opinions (either “do not know” or “not answering the question”); and, 37% approve of the traffic measures for the Party, while 58% do not reveal what they think. 
Regarding the electoral arrangement on November 24, 2018, 82% of the respondents casted their ballots. Among those who voted, 90% take part in both the local government elections and the national referendums. The results also show that 39% are satisfied with the polling place, while 57% are not. The top three reasons for dissatisfaction are long wait times (84%), voting process (54%) and problematic set-up of the polling stations (36%). Furthermore, 51% of the respondents spend less than 60 minutes on voting, and 72% are satisfied with the campaign sign cleanup after the election.  
The poll is based on telephone interviews conducted in the evenings of January 21 through January 23, 2019, interviewing 1,171 people residing in Taipei and aged 18 or older. The telephone numbers are randomly selected from residential numbers in Taipei City. The margin of sampling error is ±2.86% with a 95% confidence level.
