For its latest digital transition endeavor, Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) has teamed up with Innolux Corporation to unveil an MRT train equipped with various smart panel and displays. The modified train will serve Blue (Bannan) Line commuters starting January 27.
During the announcement press event on January 26, President Huang Ching-shinn of TRTC remarked that seeing the success of Japan Railways Group’s efforts in updating their train fleet, TRTC collaborated with Innolux to overhaul a Type 341 train into “Smart Display Metro Train” to implement Taipei’s concept of a smart city. The train revolutionizes the concept of advertisement with 5G and digital integration, creating a dynamic and creative interactive environment through the cloud and adding value to traditional marketing by interacting with personal mobile terminals. This also opens up the possibility of custom ads for clients, which explores new approaches toward marketing for the company.
The brand-new and innovative 48-inch LCD displays above the train doors provide colorful and descriptive visuals, with information such as next station, estimated arrival time, route map, transit details, and data on station exits.
Of course, the 4K curved digital advertisement monitors above passenger seats are noticeable thanks to their intense brightness and wide-angle LCDs. Viewers can enjoy the immersive surround experience as they watch the commercials.
Finally, in compliance with city policies on going paperless, the high quality ACeP (Advanced Color ePaper) screens – available in both 28-inch and 25.3-inch sizes – have been installed in the place of existing poster frames. Smaller versions of the screen (4.01-inch ePaper) have also been installed onto individual catching handles inside the train.
