The Wanan 42 Air Raid Drill will take place between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on May 27, 2019 (Monday) in Taipei City, and will last for 30 minutes. The exercise will also be carried out simultaneously in New Taipei City, Yilan County, Keelung City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City and Hsinchu County.
The drill will affect citizens in a complete traffic control and pedestrian/vehicle evacuation. During this drill, please shut all windows and turn off power and gas. The public are required to comply with the following: - Family Households: Shut the windows tight and turn off gas, stoves and power supplies. Please proceed to the nearby shelter.
- Shops, Companies, Markets, Cinemas: Please stop all business operation. All employees and customers must hurry to the underground or nearby shelter.
- Railway, Highway, Private Bus Stations and Airports: Please stop all ticket sales and direct passengers to the nearby shelter.
- Institutions, Schools, Factories, and Organizations: Students, teachers and workers should immediately stop all work and hurry to the nearby shelter.
- Pedestrians and travelers on the street: Immediately enter the shelter on both sides of the street. Personnel on the city outskirts can seek shelter under nearby objects or on appropriate terrain.
- Mobility Pointers for All Vehicles:
- All vehicles parked in the city cannot be started and have to stay where they are.
- All moving vehicles on the street have to be parked by the roadside immediately. Those unable to do so have to drive into a nearby non-arterial road and park without blocking the road.
- All vehicles from the suburbs cannot enter the city, and passengers have to be notified to disembark and evacuate for nearby shelter.
- Once all vehicles are parked, all passengers on board have to disembark immediately and seek shelter nearby.
- High speed rail, railway, MRT and highways will remain in regular service. Flights will land or take off as normal, except that passengers upon disembarking have to evacuate and go to the nearby shelter immediately.
- Personnel riding vehicles serving in the capacity of police, military, military police, civil defense, fire-fighting, or giving special services such as transporting patients or women in labor, delivering first aid or emergency repairs will be permitted to carry on driving. Priority permission will be given to troops on military operations, but they should still follow the military police’s traffic directions.
- In compliance with Article 21 of the Civil Defense Act, those not compliant with instructions regarding the command to execute evacuation and shelter as well as necessary control of traffic, lamplight and acoustics, etc. are subject to a fine of not less than NT$30,000 and not more than NT$150,000, in accordance with Article 25 of the same Act.
