Blooms at Yangmingshan to Welcome Visitors during Feb. 28 Long Weekend

Kiki and Lala at Yangmingshan Flower ClockThe 2022 Yangmingshan Flower Festival has officially kicked off! This year, the Yae cherry blossoms at Yangmingshan Flower Clock and Second Parking Lot are already in full bloom. The park management expects that the Showa Sakura Trees near the statue of Wang Yang-ming and fountain area will blossom in time for the February 28 Long Weekend. Floral enthusiasts are encouraged to take advantage of the bloom period which is expected to last for about 10 days.

With over 60 years of history, the Yangmingshan Flower Festival is a major flower viewing event in Taiwan, attracting countless visitors to the mountain – home to a large number of cherry blossom trees. For the 2022 event, the organizers have joined hands with Sanrio to set up standing signs sporting popular characters Little Twin Stars Kiki and Lala in front of the Flower Clock. We welcome everyone to come and take their photos with these beloved mascots at Yangmingshan.

During the flower festival, there will be a variety of activities at the event venue. Starting-off with the cherry-blossom-themed romantic concert featuring singers and artists on February 26. On February 27, there will be a DIY class on making candle in the morning and a treasure hunt alongside flower viewing activity in the afternoon.

For the upcoming long weekend, event organizers invited the municipal government and farmers’ association of Hualian County to set up the “Hualian Local Farmers’ Market.” The temporary stalls will provide visitors at the Flower Clock with an opportunity to shop for fresh produce from Hualian, such as organic coffee, quality rice, and eggs from free range chickens.

As there are limited parking spaces for vehicles at the Flower Clock and Second Parking Lot, visitors are encouraged to take public transportation including buses 124, 125, 127, 130, and 131.
