MRT Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station Exit 2 Reopens with New Escalator

Revamped entrance of MRT Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall station reopens to the publicThe Department of Rapid Transit Systems (DORTS) has completed the installation of a new escalator at Exit 2 of MRT Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station. Starting November 17, MRT passengers can take advantage of the set of escalators for convenient access for entry and exit.

The revamped MRT station entrance is the fifth to reopen to the public after the agency implemented the Station Escalator Improvement Project. Other MRT station entrances which have reopened with separate escalators for entry and exit include Exit 3 of MRT Zhongxiao Dunhua Station; Exit 3 of Zhongxiao Fuxing Station; Exit 4 of Zhongxiao Xinsheng Station, and Exit 2 of MRT Jiangzicui Station).

In light of the arrival of an aged society, creating an environment with barrier-free access to mass transit system is important. As a result, DORTS have devised plans to upgrade MRT station infrastructure to comply with this directive, ensuring that there is at least one MRT entrance on opposite sides of the station outfitted with two escalators or an elevator.

The agency expects to add 62 escalators and 1 elevator covering 4 train platforms and 23 entrances across 16 MRT stations by the end of 2022.
