How to use the Soil Liquefaction Potential Maps?

The soil liquefaction potential maps published by the Taipei City Government are classified into three levels. The drawing information indicates the probability of occurrence of soil liquefaction and the level of severity under the Richter scale of 5~6, and three different colors are used for distinction:

Red Zone indicates an area with a relatively higher risk of soil liquefaction, and during the occurrence of a violent earthquake, the foundation may be under severe impact.

Yellow Zone indicates an area with the next level of relatively high risk of soil liquefaction, and during the occurrence of a violent earthquake, the foundation may be under moderate impact.

Green Zone indicates an area with a relatively lower risk of soil liquefaction, and during the occurrence of a violent earthquake, the foundation may be under minor impact.

For White Zone, such area is not likely to have soil liquefaction risk and during the occurrence of a violent earthquake, the foundation may have no liquefaction impacts. Please refer to Soil Liquefaction Q&A in the “Taipei City Government Soil Liquefaction Potential Inquiry System”.
