The widely anticipated 2015 Shilin Residence Chrysanthemum Show will take place starting November 14!

Taking place between November 14 and 29, this year’s Chrysanthemum Show will be open daily from 8 AM till 7 PM (indoor exhibition areas close at 5 PM) and offers free admission. To welcome the Year of the Monkey, the entrance to the venue will be decorated by Chrysanthemum bonsai works – including one resembling the Monkey King from the Chinese classic “Journey to the West.”

According to the organizers, visitors at the Shilin Residence will be able to witness rare and popular breeds of Chrysanthemum such as the Ichimonji-kiku and the Seto-chigusa. A worthy thing to notice is the addition of the rare Ligularia Japonica, which is an indigenous chrysanthemum seen only at the Emerald Valley inside Yangmingshan National Park. There is also a display of Farfugium Japonicum and other rare chrysanthemum varieties that bloom in the autumn season.

This year’s exhibition ground will be divided into 11 major display zones. Among these sections, 8 will be devoted to recounting the story of “Journey to the West.” The different scenes will spotlight cute versions of the main characters of the novel, including Monkey King, Tang Sanzang, Monk Pig, and Friar Sand.

The Parks and Street Lights Office will also hold a series of events celebrating the occasion, including a Journey to the West cosplay party, selfie photos with characters, and free cell phone cleaning cloth by downloading Taipei Park Guide App. There will be a total of 32 activities during the weekends of the Chrysanthemum Show at the venue, spanning from glove puppetry performance to brewing of chrysanthemum-flavor tea.

Furthermore, to introduce tourists to the wonderful shops and stores located in the vicinity of the Shilin Residence and Yangmingshan, a set of coupons and vouchers will be also available inside the pamphlet guide for the 2015 Shilin Residence Chrysanthemum Show.
