2016 IT Month: Universiade and Smart Technology at Taipei City Government’s Booth!The annual IT Month event will kick-off at Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center starting Saturday, December 3!

Taipei City Government Department of Information Technology (DOIT) invites the public to visit its theme hall at the event. The topic this year is 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei. Mayor Ko Wen-je and the mascot of the Taipei Universiade Bravo will take to the stage and join the audience for some fun.

In the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei Promotion Zone, the organizers have set up a hands-on archery interactive game. Through the integration of sports and technology, the public will acquire a better understanding of the competition categories. There is also a display of real archery equipment at the site to let visitors learn more about the event.

Mayor Ko and Universiade mascot Bravo engaged in archery.In addition to the Universiade zone, the venue is further divided into four areas: “Smart Public Housing,” “Smart Government,” “Smart Transportation,” and “Smart Education.”

At the “Smart Government” zone, DOIT joins hands with the Department of Cultural Affairs to offer visitors the “VR City Culture Guide,” which spotlights interesting cultural landmarks such the Beitou Hot Springs Museum, Sin Hong Choon Tea Company, Zhongshan Hall Taipei Lecture Hall, and Sun Yun-suan Memorial Museum. Through the employment of 3D surrounding and VR technologies, visitors will experience a merging of the real and the virtual in experiencing the living culture of Taipei.

The “Smart Public Housing” zone showcases the six public housing projects which integrates different aspects of smart technologies through the living lab format. These project sites provides residents with a safe, healthy, and comfortable living environment providing for comprehensive care with the implementation of smart technology in design, building, and maintenance.

To provide the public with diverse channels on parking information, “Smart Transportation” demonstrates the working of a smart parking system which employs sensors to locate empty parking slots, helping drivers easily locate places to park. It also provides smart search to help vehicle owners locate the position of the vehicle in the parking lot.

Finally, “Smart Education” exhibits the award-winning public services of Taipei CooC Cloud, offering visitors a chance to experience CooC learning, CooC classes, CooC reading classroom, CooC App, and CooC database of education course clips. The public will have a chance to learn more about the City’s Achievements on e-learning policies.

The location of Taipei City Government booth is A534 inside Hall 1. The pavilion will be open to the public from December 3 through 11. Visitors will have a chance to bring home small souvenirs by taking part in the activities available at the booth.
