The 2016 Metro Street Dance Competition will be taking place again, inviting street dancer enthusiasts and teams to take part in the annual contest!

The spokesperson for this year’s event will be Yuki Hsu, a Taiwanese pop singer who is known for her chart-topping hit “Monster.” Hsu will star in promotional footages for this year’s event and will appear on the day of the finals to sit on the judging panel and present the award to the winners.

With celebrities serving as the event’s spokesperson each year, the organizers also invited the finalists of Golden Melody Awards “Gentlemen”to serve as the competition’s goodwill ambassador. During this period, Gentlemen will travel to Jianshi Junior High School in Hsinchu County, inviting street dance enthusiasts to participate in the“dance” exchange.

On the day of the press conference, Hsu appeared with a group of young fans. She shared her personal experience on street dance while the young fans performed her hit single “Go! Go! Go!.”

The 2016 Metro Dance Competition consists of two competition categories –“Group A: Youth Division” and “Group B: Adult Division.” The preliminary rounds will take place on July 23 (Saturday) and 24 (Sunday). The semifinals will take place on August 6 (Saturday), with the finals slated for August 20 (Saturday).
  
On the day of the semifinals, the members of Gentlemen will appear at the tournament venue to cheer for the contestants. Hsu will also personally attend the finals and present the awards to the winners of each category. The first place winner for each division will receive cash prizes of NT$100,000; second place winners will bring home NT$60,000; and third place winners claiming NT$30,000. A total of three recipients of special mentions awards will be selected for each division, bringing home cash prizes of NT$10,000.

Preliminary Rounds
Venue: Plaza outside MRT Jiannan Road Station
Group A: Competition begins at 1 PM on Saturday, July 23. Top 15 teams will advance to the next round.
Group B: Competition begins at 1 PM on Sunday, July 24. Top 15 teams will advance to the next round.

Semifinals
Venue: Plaza outside MRT Jiannan Road Station
Time: Competition begins at 1 PM on Saturday, August 6. Top 10 teams from each division will advance to the finals.

Finals: B1 Plaza next to Metro Administration Building
Time: Starts at 1 PM on Saturday, August 20.
