Sakura by Moonlight: 2018 LOHAS Night Cherry Blossom Festival

Sakura trees illuminated at nightWith cherry blossom trees blooming in Neihu District, the city government invites everyone to visit Neihu and enjoy the feast of sakura flowers by moonlight! The 2018 LOHAS Night Cherry Blossoms Festival will take place in the vicinity of LOHAS Park in Neihu from today through March 11!

Expressing his gratitude to numerous volunteers in the Donghu area, Parks and Street Lights Office (PSLO) Director Huang Li-yuan noted that the continuous effort in planting cherry blossoms at the riverbank next to LOHAS Park has yielded amazing results. With sakura blooming every year around February, the sea of pink and red flowers has become a signature landscape, attracting flower enthusiasts from neighboring areas during this time of the year.

Spotlights on Sakura Trees

To illuminate the blooming cherry blossoms, PSLO has installed 39 new LED illumination devices at the famed “cherry blossom walkway” inside LOHAS Park. The lamps will light up the beauty of the different sakura trees, including Fuji cherry, Yae cherry, Yoshino cherry, and Taiwan cherry along the 3-kilometer path.

The lights are up from 6 PM through 10 PM during the festival period. The limited time schedule strikes a balance between viewing pleasures for flower enthusiasts and local residents, as well as achieving the objective of reducing carbon emission and saving energy.
