The 2018 IT Month will take place at Hall 1 of Taipei World Trade Center starting November 28. The city government’s pavilion is designed to showcase the theme “Smart City: Encountering Great Things in a Great City.”
The City’s exhibition demonstrates the achievements of Taipei in the areas of “Efficient City,” “Mobile City,” and “LOHAS City.” To create the image of “Technology Forest,” the pavilion’s design is the result of collaboration with Taipei Flower Market, crossing the border between ICT and floriculture and decorating the venue with soothing greens.
The pavilion will showcase 15 innovative solutions which provide added convenience for city services. Some examples include the well-known “iTrash” smart waste recycling system and new vending machine types which accept cashless payment. The Department of Information Technology (DOIT) welcomes the public to stop by and try out these devices, with a chance to bring home souvenirs!
According to the agency, the city is like a forest, where each innovation can be seen as an individual tree populating the woodland providing endless supply of oxygen to support the smart city ecosystem. By merging innovative technologies and smart services, citizens will be able to enjoy a great and convenient living style. The exhibition links the different aspects of day-to-day living with technology:
- Efficient City: Taipei Flower Market will showcase the “Flower Online Trading Platform” which provides information on flower products over the Internet, allowing flower consigners to conduct trade regardless of time and physical location. This greatly enhances the efficiency of flower trading.
- Mobile City: The implementation of Taipei Card 3.0 seeks to integrate various city services under one portal, allowing the citizens to conveniently access city services through their mobile devices.
- LOHAS City: The area spotlights the international acclaim “iTrash” smart waste recycling integration system. The project is the result of successful matchmaking effort by the Taipei Smart City Project Management Office. By combining IoT with EasyCard functions, residents are able to discard their household waste around the clock, as well as charging the refund from recycling to their EasyCards directly.
Furthermore, the city government’s “Personalized Message Precise Delivery Service” via the city’s official LINE account has claimed the IT Month’s Top 100 Innovative Products Award under the government service category. The service will be promoted at the venue.
In addition, the pavilion will also display city tour programs shown in VR/AR technology, enabling participants to experience in-depth and informative trips without having to be there. Visitors can also have their pictures taken with Bravo the Bear at the venue – thanks to AR technology.
