Since 1999, Taipei City Government has joined the Wild Bird Society of Taipei in holding the Taipei International Birdwatching Fair. Now in its 21st year, the annual birdwatching fest will spotlight the theme “Along with the Birds.”
According to recent studies and experts, there has been a sharp decline in biological diversity and resources around the world. Despite the notable collapse of the ecosystem pyramid, there are still many people who fail to take note or totally ignore the signs of warning from Mother Nature. With the growing gap in the relationship between man and nature, very few individuals proactively review their actions and how they impact nature, yet the matter of fact is nobody can live their life away from nature.
The choice of this year’s theme hopes to remind the public to think from the point of origin. As a member of the ecosystem, no one is immune from the effects of environmental challenges. By focusing on the wild birds, we hope to stimulate interest and curiosity among participants, encouraging them to explore and enjoy the beauty of wild birds and learn how technology has been implemented in the field of avian conservation. Through raising awareness on biodiversity, we attempt to awaken the connection between human and avian (and other creatures). “Along with Birds” is not only a plea for avian, but also for our own future, emphasizing on the environment so we can proceed towards a brighter future.
